mods - the original hipsters.
here’s how i first learned about the mods and decided i wanted to be one–
i had already discovered the Who, and a ton of my friends had shirts or pins with the classic mod target logo, but it wasn’t until my boyfriend and i watched the film Quadrophenia that i finally got it. it was more than just a band or a logo - mod was a way of life. (within a week both my boyfriend and i had re-vamped our wardrobes and he had bought a Vespa. we were both 18 at the time…)
so if you know a hipster who doesn’t get the meaning of mod, turn them on to the movie Quadrophenia.
Ā
then show them where they can shop (or better yet, buy them something awesome from one of these sites. last christmas i bought by son the fishtail parka. he is the envy of all his Who-loving friends at his high school.)
links to shopping:
www.modcloth.com (Mod recycled and vintage clothing. Specializing in retro, punk rock, goth and emo fashion styles.)
www.huckleberrysmenswear.co.uk(this is where i ordered my son’s coat. Huckleberrys Menswear Wolverhampton UK | Lambretta clothing and Lambretta Clothes. Established in 1994 we have always been at the forefront of Mod clothing.)
www.atomretro.com(ATOM RETRO - Authentic and unique Mod, Indie and Retro Clothing from the Sixties …. Unruly Clothing - Disruptive Clothes for Men and Women: Retro, Punk, …)
there are many more, but this should get you started. long live mod!
stay hip,
julie
